2008 Playoff Race...
 

Taking a cue from Burt & his SAC'D post... here's where things stand in the Frenzy...

VALENCIA has won the Central division, and will be playing in the postseason. A win this weekend will secure the #2 seed. A loss garners them the #3 seed (but will then face a semifinal playoff game vs. the wildcard team from the East).

INSECTS have won a spot in the playoffs, and will secure the division title with a win vs. the Freedom on Sunday... or an Opihi loss. If they lose AND the Opihi win, they'll be the wildcard team.

The OPIHI can win the East with a win vs. the Ragers AND a loss by the Insects (divisional record will be the tie-breaking factor if this scenario comes to pass). If the both the Opihi and the Insects win, then the Opihi get the wildcard birth.

The FREEDOM can gain the wildcard birth with a win vs. the Insects AND an Opihi loss (they'd have the better divisional record over the Opihi).

The DODGERS can clinch the West with a win vs. the Rake Fighters.

The RAKE FIGHTERS can clinch the West with a win vs. the Dodgers.

So those are the scenarios, gang. It's exciting that two of the divisional championships come down to this weekend... and one is a winner-take-all head to head matchup (Dodgers vs. Rake Fighters)!

Good luck to all those who make the playoffs. Once again the Derby Cars will be watching but at least I get another high draft pick I can waste.

Yep. Win and you get the #1 seed. Lose and you still get the #1 seed if I lose. If I lose & Matt wins, I'm staying home.

Not going to happen, given the way my and the Rake Fighters have been playing lately. I've been searching for a #2 RB all season, and still haven't found one. Now my WRs have stopped producing, and I keep picking the wrong QB. This will be the last game in Nittany Dodger history it appears.

Yes, so please rest your "starters"!!! Not that it matters since I seem to be cursed in the Frenzy this year. I have the most points scored but have had the second most points scored against me which will probably keep me out of the playoffs.

No... that won't keep you out. A win by you and a loss by me and you're in, based on having a better divisional record. Simple as that.

Tell me about it...same thing for me in SAC'd, 2nd most points against...including one game where I scored 220 points, and some Gunslinging bozo still beat me!!!!

Note that may only interest me, that was only the 3rd highest losing score in SAC'D history. The Disciples of the 36 Chambers lost to the Crestone Needles 235.4 to 227.15 in week 6 of the 2006 season. And to top that, the Good Grief lost to the Disciples 235.8 to 231.55 in week 14 of the 2005 season.

There's still room for some last-minute amazing comebacks... but if the games stay the way they are as of today, here's how the playoffs will shape up:

#1 Opihi (10-4) vs. #3 Valencia (8-6)
#2 Amish (8-6) vs. #4 Insects (10-4)
[NOTE: Because the #1 and #4 teams are in the same division, league rules stipulate they will NOT meet in the first round of the playoffs.]

I'll touch base again this time tomorrow, to make any changes due to MNF scoring.

For some reason I thought the Insects made the playoffs. I don't have access to MFL from work so I might be wrong.

This is indeed the matchup for round one of the playoffs. Just a reminder: 7 points will be added to the higher seeds in the opening round as a "home field advantage" bonus.

(By the way, can someone update the league website so these games can be officially on the schedule for week 15? I don't have access to it. Go figure.)

It appears that I have the playoffs setup correctly but I'm not sure how or if I have to give the 7 point advantage.

Looks like my team is limping into the playoffs! Being #1 for most of the season and now the 4th seed!!

You can override the scoring AFTER the games are done next Monday night. I think there's an "adjust scoring" feature or something. Sometimes the +7 doesn't even come into play. Thanks.
