Player activiation Question

If Ryan Grant is unable to play this weekend I would like to be able to activate Brandon Jackson (at least for this week) to start in Grant's place. Do I need to do anything special to get this done so I can pick Jackson in MFL on Sunday morning? Also, just to confirm his salary will be raised by $25 (per week) if Jackson is returned to the TS/PS?

Re: Player activiation Question

correct. You need to have room on your roster to bring him up. And then whenever you demote him back to TS (IF you do that), it's 25cbs per week (I think that's literally per NFL game he was on your active roster).

Thanks, Jim. I have the roster space and cap dollars and cap years. I guess at this point to be on the safe side I would like to ask that he be activated and I will make the decision about starting him once we get to the weekend.

Re: Player activiation Question

Jim's right. The only clarification is that a week, for the purposes of this rule, is defined as whenever a game happens, a week has passed, but a player cannot be promoted and relegated back to the TS without paying the 25cb raise.

Also note, that any player promoted from the TS to active, and later relegated back to the TS has their salary guaranteed (meaning, you take a cap hit for later cutting them even if cut from the TS).

good clarification. makes sense, too, about the guaranteed salary.

Thanks for clarifying that about the guaranteed salary, Brian. I would still like to activiate Jackson.

Re: Player activiation Question

Re: Player activiation Question

Did you try to start him? Sometimes when I want to start a player that's not available yet on the website (ie. it hasn't been updated in time) I simply put a note at the bottom of the lineup indicating my intentions. I'd say that since you indicated you wanted him promoted, he should be considered promoted, whether the website was updated or not. But if you indicated you wanted him started and that didn't happen, that should be made retroactive!

Any other rules committee folks agree or disagree?

Re: Player activiation Question

Thanks, Jim. That was what I thought. I did not indicate to start Jackson since I did not see him as available I was not sure what the best choice was. Since I did not want to risk losing the spot I left Ryan Grant in. No big deal since I think I will leave Jackson active at this point so there should be no charge (unless and until I demote him). Thanks again.

Re: Player activiation Question

Agree with Jim. We all know our teams and what we have space for. All you have to do is announced your intentions for promotion/starting somewhere and it is in effect, regardless of whether or not the website is updated. YOU decide who you start, not the website.
