Dodgers release Charlie Frye from TS

In the Frenzy, we've had these players automatically released if not activated. No biggie, but those in both leagues might have some confusion on this issue. I'd be lenient if someone doesn't check in today to release all their players.

That's cool. This is my first year doing ALL commish duties, so I have no problem with giving everyone a break. Not even sure the website is set up to auto move players to active, auto-release them, or do nothing at all. I'll have to check into that and I can set it to auto-release just to keep things consistant. Being the first year this is even an issue, we are all learning together.

I think you're incorrect Brian.

Pretty sure players on the TS have to be cut or automatically get activated to the Active Roster after 3 years.

Either way, we can keep it consistant. Can someone check how the Frenzy does it, and we can do the same.

I can't find the thread from previous years that listed the players that fell into this category for the Frenzy. I think it was you, Mike, that started the thread listing the players and indicating if they weren't activated or cut by March 31 that ____ would happen. It isn't indicated in the rules.

I don't think it matters either way, but it should be clarified in the rules one way or the other.

A lot of little things have been missed in the rules. From a precident standpoint, I'm pretty certain that in the past that players coming off year 3 and into year 4 were automatically promoted to Active Roster unless the owner took premptive action to do otherwise. Thus if you don't want them on your active roster, you better cut/trade them before the deadline date when you can do so without penalty in most cases.

Think about it, if they have additional years on their contract, why would they just go null and void if not activated. They lose their TS eligibilty, but they're still on the roster unless cut. It only makes logical sense.

The fact that they were handled as such in the past just adds to it being a defacto rule based on precedent.
