Oh, there's more where this came from. Better get your wallet out!

P.S. There's nothing like talking smack when you won by the difference between the kickers LOL We're looking pretty evenly matched on the "all-team" front so far. My RBs need to step it up if I want a chance to keep winning this.

Re: Dodgers vs. Popes Sidebet

Week 2 was not quite as close:

Nittany Dodgers:
Brett Favre - 30.4
Cadillac Williams - 24.1
Marion Barber - 26.0
Isaac Bruce - 18.45
TJ Houshmandzadeh - 22.9
Steve "former Pope" Smith - 37.3
Tony Gonzalez - 6.3
Robbie Gould - 10.5
GB D - 8
Total - 183.95

Popes:
Peyton Manning - 23.55
LenDale White - 16.15
Cedric Benson - 17.5
Santonio Holmes - 6.8
Terrell Owens - 18.95
Hines Ward - 8
Alge Crumpler - 6.8
Adam Vinatieri - 10.9
Balt D - 10
Total - 118.65

That's a 65.3 point smackdown for those keeping score to even the series at 1-1.

Technically. But he never suited up for our squad, so the guys in the locker room don't feel that way about him. He's not a former Pope to us, he's just a hated Nittany Dodger!

I'll get you back this week. Um, maybe.

Stupid underachieving RBs.

And WRs.

And TE.

Oh Popes, you left so many pts on the bench this week.

Oh, I'm quite aware! This is why my team sucks. Some nice players, but I have to make agonizing (and usually wrong) decisions on who to start each week. See my post later today in the trade section - I'm working to remedy the situation.

I hate fantasy football right about now :bang2:

Trust me I know the feeling... look at my current 0-6 roster in my local league:

http://football5.myfantasyleague.com...04&F=0004&O=07

My partner and I have destoyed our team by picking the wrong lineups each week, sat Romo week 1, Watson and Bruce week 2, Ronnie Brown this past week (shoulda played him over LJ), also sat Romo this past week, which may come back to haunt us as well. The talent is there to be comptitive, but there is NO CONSISTENCY, which makes predicting a lineup VERY difficult!

It's UGLY!

Re: Dodgers vs. Popes Sidebet

I checked out that roster. You DO feel my pain! LOL

The only consolation I have right now is this side bet with Brian: "best possible lineup". Methinks I did quite well on that front!

Re: Dodgers vs. Popes Sidebet

Week 3

Popes:

P. Manning - 21.10
R. Brown - 49.85
L. White - 16.75
K. Curtis - 45.60
T. Owens - 18.50
S. Holmes - 6.40
A. Crumpler - 15.30
A. Vinatieri - 13.10
Balt. Def. - 9.00

Total = 195.6

Nittany Dodgers:

B. Favre - 36.10
D. Foster - 31.00
M. Barber - 27.45
TJ Housh - 25.65
V. Jackson - 18.80
D. Branch - 16.70
T. Gonzalez - 13.10
R. Gould - 4.05
GB Def. - 4.00

Total = 176.85

Make that a 2-1 Popes advantage, and the high score of the year thus far to me!

What's interesting is that, of the 14 guys we used above, 5 are no longer on our rosters after we both swung good-sized trades this week.

I'm just glad you traded away Foster and Rivers. This 3 QB / 4 RB attack you had going at me was brutal. Even when Manning has a nice week, what are the odds he will top Favre, Rivers, AND Roethlisberger???

Re: Dodgers vs. Popes Sidebet

Soooooooooooo, any chance of calling off this bet?

Stick a fork in me, I'm done. Henry gets hurt. Javon Walker looks to be out again next week. Benson got benched for fumbling. I lose 4 major starters in Week 6. It's over...

Or, how about if you let me start Hester in a specific Kick Returner slot? I'll take his return points rather though, oh I don't know, any of my starting RBs or WRs.

The worst part is that Frank's going to get a WAY better first round pick from me than I ever anticipated :thumbsdn:

Well, we're playing for a buck a week, so I can still add to the pile of money he gives me in a couple weeks.

Updating the last two weeks of the season:

Week 13, Dodgers win 135.9 to 129.15

Week 14, Dodgers win 136.1 to 107.85

Dodgers win season series 10-4.

J, I'll take the pride as my only prize and I'll put the $6 as a contribution to the Visa card debacle for the hassle and expenses.

You are kind and generous. My team bows its collective head in shame and heads for their off-season destinations for vacation. Undeserved, I might add.

At least you have a top 3 pick! My guys shit the bed late "so to speak", and we 're also on the outside looking in, but 5 picks later in the draft at #8 :dammit:

It figures my bums did just enough to make it tantalizing close, yet hurt me longterm as I made every effort to win and traded away a LOT of my future (Clayton, Leinart, 2nd and 3rd rd picks). Ugh.

With my future talent depleted, I have a feeling I'm going to play things a lot more like the Opihi come 2008, mining the FA market for whatever gem I can find.

1 have picks 1, 3, and 6.

Too bad the rookie class looks kinda weak.

Going into last year, and this year, I never would have expected the success you've had after a quick glance at your season opening rosters. But timely and frequent FA aquisitions have turned you into a top contender both seasons. Your secret is out... let others overspend in the RFA market, and grab the hot hand off the waiver wire as the season progesses! I'm on to you Jim! ;)

FYI, they say copycating is a sincere form of flattary...
