No Longer Bored - Division Blockbuster Trade!

Call us crazy but the Bloodsuckers and Floyds have agreed to an intra-divisional trade after months of negotiations.

Bloodsuckers trade:
WR Plaxico Burress (4/1123)
RB DeAngelo Williams (4/627)

Floyds trade
WR Lee Evans (1/1210)
2008 1st Rounder
2008 2nd Rounder

Let the talk begin.

Re: No Longer Bored - Division Blockbuster Trade!

Confirmed.

Hated to let Evans go, still kicking myself for letting time get by and not renegging him. But I am sorely in need of RB help, and I love Williams and his situation. Now hopefully I make the playoffs and make those 2 picks worth less. And hopefully this doesn't put Frank over the top...I believe Evans is going to have a monster year this year......

Re: No Longer Bored - Division Blockbuster Trade!

You gave up Evans, and a 1st, and a 2nd? For DeAngelo Williams and Plax?

Frank wins ANOTHER deal. And yet I'm the one with the bad trade rep. Yeesh.

I forgot to add you just hurt yourself inside the division as well. You got killed in this one IMO Burt.

With the trade official....

Bloodsuckers renegotiate Lee Evans contract...

1210/1yr to 1360/5yrs

How so? Agreed Evans is the better reciever if he continues to improve, but how much better than Burress? 10 points a game? Unlikly, but even so. Carolina has changed their new scheme to set it up just for Williams, so obviously they think highly of him over Foster. That gives me a bonafide 3rd RB to go with Caddy and LT. How does that kill me? Assuming my starting IOP's perform close to the level they did last year, those 2 picks will be in the later end of the round, so that won't kill me either.....

Agreed with Burt.

But I'm partial to young players and we have yet to see the best of Lee Evans and the prospect of having Torry Holt, Steve Smith, and Lee Evans for this year and Smith and Evans locked up for the next 5 years at well below market value 3k for stud WRs was too sexy.

I think DeAngelo will be a stud in a zone blocking scheme, but with the 1st rounder and 2nd rounder in addition to the Clans 1st and my own I should be able to find a replacement next year for DeAngelo. Plus I already have a Jacobs and Turner as young RBs to bet on.

Win-Win trade.

Re: No Longer Bored - Division Blockbuster Trade!

I'd agree that the Bloodsuckers won this one, but I don't think it was the killing Mike thinks. That's primarily because I'm probably not as high on Lee Evans as most people.

I think Burt overpaid for DeAngelo, but not in the ripped off fashion. Just in the fashion that if that was the player he coveted, you have to pay a premium to pry them away from another team with no other incentive to move them.

Re: No Longer Bored - Division Blockbuster Trade!

No wonder I never get deals done with Mike or you.... I honestly almost pulled out of this deal b/c I didn't fell comfortable trading away D-Will.

I guess the fact that I don't like DeAngelo at all, and never have plays a part. I wouldn't have given up the 1st alone for him. My opinion on this deal is 100% biased by my low opinion of DeAngelo. I'll believe it when I see it from him.

Also, knowing that Frank had offered Plax and a 1st for Evans, and that Burt wouldn't budge, just tells me that he felt DeAngelo was worth 2 1sts and a 2nd... and I just don't see that.

Finally, I'll add that if I was attempting to win my division this year, and push in the playoffs, there is NO WAY I'd strengthen a division rivals starters. Frank wouldn't have been able to pay me a high enough price to hurt my starters and improve his.

Seeing as Burt has over 12k in 3 RFA's, anything but a division win and title push is a dissapointment IMO.

Don't worry. You're on my "no need to check trading block thread posts" list. Some people just don't value players, or see trades the same. I'd say we fall into that category.

It was Plax/1st Rounder for Evans/2nd rounder. Think that changes things.

Wow, Burt. So instead of Marion Barber, Robert Meachem and my second rounder next year for Evans (and your 3rd and 5th). You gave up Evans and your top two picks for Williams and Plax?

I guess I am just not as big a fan of Williams and Plax but frankly (no pun intended) I think you gave up 2 of the top two pieces in this deal (Evans and a first rounder).

Of course, all of us having different values on players is what makes the league (and trades work).

BTW, Frank I will offer you the same deal for Evans if you are interested. Though I would guess at this point you would not be...

No way.

Barber/RBBC with Jones.
Maechem - unproven rook.
2nd rounder?

for

Evans
3rd and 5th?

There's a reason Burt didn't do that deal.

I would be interested if I hadn't traded Cotchery and you removed me giving up a 3rd (don't have one) and 5th.

If Burt didn't pull the deal for Evans I would have inquired about Larry Fitz.

I would agree with this but again I guess that is what makes all of this possible.

Barber outscored Williams last year (close to 100 points over the course of the season I think) and his RBBC is pretty similar to Williams having DeShaun to contend. I would agree that Plax is a vet and would trump Meachem (at least at this point). However, Burt also would have been getting second rather than giving up one (and his first). Not that it really matters at this point but Meachem would also have been TS eligible.

OK, I read them, but unless there is a guy I REALLY want, I don't bother thinking up potential offers.

The reason I took this deal over your deal was two fold. Number one, as Preds stated, if I spend 13K on 3 players, I best be winning this year. Your deal would have weakened me this year. It would have given me 2 good young players, true, but losing Evans and not getting something comperable would have left me short.

Number B, I am one of the few here I guess that loves Williams. I believe Carolina changing their blocking scheme to make DWill more sucessful is proof enough that he will be getting the bulk of carries over Foster, and should be more sucessfull than Barber, who will still be behind Jones in Dallas, especially now that Tuna is gone, and there isn't that Barber love left.

And letter 2, after I win the SAC'd bowl this year, picks 1.12 and 2.12+ will just make the trophy shine a bit brighter!! :champ:

Or more likely, you bit hard into Frank's sales pitch on Williams (he CAN be quite persuasive).

As for letter 2, if you fail to land that trophy (which I majorly suspect will be the case), you're going to be kicking yourself for finishing outside the bottom 6 and giving up a top end pick, not the bottom end you mistakenly believe they will be. Trust me, I speak forom expoerience, as someone who had that happen last year, with a team built to win it all on paper, but shy on depth like yours. It won't take much for you to fall short of your goal being as thin as you are in most areas. Nothing hurt more last year then struggling with injuries, watching my title dreams go down the drain, and knowing somebody else controlled my #1 pick.

Didn't have to sell him on Williams. An Evans deal could have been done A LOT SOONER had I wanted to part with Williams.... trading D-Will to get Evans was my last resort after working deals revolving around Burress, Curtis, Crotchery, and draft picks.

Actually, I was the one who brought up Williams. We had decided to put the dealings on the back burner (until the next day when Frank would have asked about Evans again). And getting another quality back gives me more depth. That was where my depth was lacking. True, an injury to LT, CJ or Wayne will cripple me, but how many teams can lose one of their top 3 players and not have a major impact? I don't see anyone that can replace an LT, and in your instance an SA. Those are the dice we roll. And still you almost made it into the playoff (I think we have all heard the .1 point loss keeping you from the playoffs story a few times by now). I think my team stacks up well against Franks, and while this trade makes Frank a bit stronger, I feel it also makes me a bit stronger in the long run. But we'll see.

Let's not exagerate, I missed the playoffs (and ultimately the SACD championship) by a 0.75 point loss in week 1, not 0.10. :P
