Highlanders acquire TE Eric Johnson
 

TE Eric Johnson (2yrs / 290) has been acquired by the Black Watch Royal Highlanders.

In return, the Parkwood Predators pickup the Highlanders 2008 3rd round pick and the option to swap 4th round picks in 2008 if the Higlanders pick is higher than the Predators.

This move brings the Preds to only 4 rostered TE's (counting Taxi Squader Anthony Fasano), but primarily frees up a small portion of cap space to buy some D's and K's.

I can't believe you're going so thin at TE! With that lack of depth, you'll probably have a hard time competing this year ;)

Through the first week, this is looking like a nice acquistion for the Highlanders. NO puts up a pathetic offensive performance, yet EJ is the leading receiver and pulls down 8 for 56. Not bad at all.

EJ getting getting 60% of the points that Harrison gets (and in a game where NO has no passing TDs while Indy has 3): you've got to be pretty happy with that outcome!

While there's no doubt EJ will get a ton of looks from TE loving Brees, I question if EJ will hold up. He took some brutal hits high last night, and doesn't seem to position himself well for being tackled. His injury history looks welle arned after what I saw last night.

That said, I would have loved to keep EJ, but needed the capspace to fill out my roster. For the moment, it definately looks like a huge plus for Steve and a likely win-win deal for both of us, which is a good thing.
