Home Field Advantage VOTE

Should the 7 point Home FIeld Advantage be kept or eliminated?

Too lazy to set up a poll?

Brian,

Why'd you waiver from your earlier comments supporting HFA? Just curious.

if we keep it i would like to have a second vote to have it applied for the entire year.

either we use it 100% of the time or we remove it completly.

That'd be kinda cool actually IMO.

Re: Home Field Advantage VOTE

i just think if you are going to arbitrarily award points you need to do it consistantly.

since we have decided to give points for things not done on the field i have some other suggestions:

Its your birthday you get 10 extra points
You got in a car accident -5 points
You had a kid +25 points
You took a piss and didnt get any on your pants while shaking off+50

I just added a 3rd option for HFA in the regular season and the playffs. If you'd like to change your vote please post here and I'll edit the numbers in the poll to reflect it.

not on my list yet. ;) but you pretty much need to be dead or have an uncontested verified roll claim to be verified on my list.

FYI our dead seer proxied to me... that's usually a good sign as to what he felt/knew

Did I actually support it? I thought I said I didn't oppose it as strongly as I used to. It is not something I feel strongly enough either way to lobby for or against.

I don't know. If it never came up, it's not an issue, and it never has. I'd just hate to see two evenly matched team play a close game, only to have HFA decide it. I'd also hate to see a team with a great record puffed up by playing against a weak division get that much more help in the first round. I'm undecided. I just can't think of a compelling reason to vote for it, but I can think of several scenarios where I think if it decided a game, I would be upset. Maybe it is just the fair compeptitor in me, but if I was 12-2, playing the 8-6 wild card team, I would think to myself "if I can't beat this team heads up, I don't deserve to move on to the next round."

Re: Home Field Advantage VOTE

I like the idea of adding this to the regular season (I need all the points I can get and it does make having a "home" game a little more important!)

Re: Home Field Advantage VOTE

I am not the best at counting but it appears that the tabulations for the voting are off (I am showing as the only person to vote for the regular season/playoff option) but there is a two there. For the top option there are two names but it is showing a 1. Just an FYI...

That's because I edited the poll to move my vote from choice 1 to choice 3.

You only edited for one vote, not the three that you told me I'd get.

Heh, you helped create this monster. :)

IF this vote comes to pass we'll obviously need to check the schedule. I'm not sure if you guys have ever paid much attention to who is the home team and such on any given week, but this now becomes important.

If we use the same schedule year-over-year, I think simply switching who is home and who is away for every game would make sure that no one gets screwed - i.e. I'm not always going to freaking Buffalo to play Mike every year.

This may be intuitive, but is often overlooked.

HFA throughout the year is too much IMO. I'm all for some experiments and rules development, but I'd like to continue with a league that rewards FF skill on a weekly basis as much as possible.

so if smitty votes against it we are tied.

what happens then?

revote or are we stuck with what we have now?

Re: Home Field Advantage VOTE

If he votes to tie it I'll change my vote, how's that?

smsmith40 March 28th, 2006 02:56 AM

Re: Home Field Advantage VOTE

I guess I just put the cat among the pigeons by voting against and tying the vote up.

I may be a miserable fantasy football purist but this just seems too artificial for me. If my team scores more points than the other guy then I should win (and vice versa) there are already too many variables, how many times is the top scorer not the no1 seed going into the playoffs. Surely the advantage would logically be given to that teamm as their own performance was the best in the league irrespective of the quality of the teams they played.

Re: Home Field Advantage VOTE

Hahaha...

I could careless, just as long as it's consistent through out.

Re: Home Field Advantage VOTE

As I said - although I think home field would be kinda cool, feel free to switch my vote just to ensure we don't end up in a deadlock. I simply don't care enough to hold firm on it.

With that HFA is now eliminated.

I hope it comes back to haunt some of you naysayers who take all the fun out of things!
