y'all are NUTS
Some of the UFA prices are ALREADY insane.
Matt, at 395 you bought yourself Drew, I aint paying 400 cb's for a 1 week fill-in at QB. Screw it, I'll keep all 3 of my QB's a take a zero week 8 if that's what I have to do! I knew I should have waited a week to put Drew in play but oh well! You can tell guys have been itching to blow their built up wads. Some of the other player costs are crazy as well. Gotta love the start of the UFA period each year! Congrats guys, today has already been interesting and fun! Bledsoe for 395 vs. Brad Johnson for 396... I just don't get it! :IconDrink :p |
Re: y'all are NUTS
Mike, you keep talkin' up Bad Brad Johnson like you expect him to be #5 again.

6-10? very likely 10-15? without a doubt BJ's salary is a bargain, and I'll gladly hand on to him, Garcia and Brooks if need be. |

Re: y'all are NUTS
I gotta admit you sound a bit bitter. In my mind, if you got it you might as well spend it. I like Bledsoe and think that he is in a good situation this year. I think he and Leftwich will make a nice tandem.
As for waiting he was my QB target so I would have just gotten him a week later. |
Re: y'all are NUTS
Nah, I'm not bitter... surprised yes, but I hardly can see getting myself worked up over Drew. I think he'll be better than the disaster he put up last year, but nowhere near his great season of 2 years back, and that's speaking as a Bills homer.
He would have been a nice 1 week fill-in week 8 against Arizona when all my other QB's are on bye, but I'd never have used him otherwise. I have the money to spend as well, but I can't see blowing it for 1 week, I'd rather save it for a more opportune pickup down the line. In any case your ceiling is higher than mine lol. I somewhat misjudged the market this go around, I had budgeted 250 max for Drew, but alas that's not to be! |
Re: y'all are NUTS
What a FA. There are some crazy contracts out there.
Boo Williams 300! Making him the 3rd highest paid TE! While Randy McMicheal and Fred Jones are all under 200! Actually just that one, but Faulk and Martin are heading towards there. If Faulk breaks 2500, I will be laughing my butt off. Martin shouldn't reach more than 1500. He's just waiting to break down. If I was any other team *cough*Freedom*cough*, I'd take a stab or two at Ricky Williams. The BDSC have lots of cash and most likely will match near anything. PLus I'd rather take Ricky at 2700 over Faulk and a 2k salary. You pay more but you get a younger and better back (at this point in their careers)! And he'd become an instant contender with an RB stable of Deuce, Ricky, and Shipp! |

I've said it before and I'll say it again. I refuse to overpay anymore, even if it means having no stud RBs. If anyone is willing to overpay for Ricky, they can have him. FYI I'm not exactly sure why you're bidding so much for Martin. At 1500 that will leave the Insects with 535 cbs left to fill out 7 more slots. Are you just trying to drive up the prices again Frank? Didnt you learn anything from RFA? |

Re: y'all are NUTS
Well look at it from my standpoint.
Sure I got nailed with a 600 cb cap hit, but I got a stud RB and the one I liked more. I knew Ricky at 3000 was overpriced, but I believed Alexander at 2750 is a great deal and I still do. Not taking into account rookie comp, I would gladly take Shaun Alexander and his 2750 contract, over Ricky Williams and his 2600. The one mistake I made, was that I misjudged the impact of the Rookie Comp Picks, but since it was the first year no one could really tell how it would effect RFA, I'm giving myself some slack. With the Rookie comp and the 600 cb hit to a divison rival, you come out great considering in RFA you would've only kept one of the two. With Shuan Alexander to team with Clinton Portis, I still got a pretty good deal. Improved my team by leaps and bounds. Bitter? A bit, that 600 would be helpful in adding 1 more young player, but I really like how my team is taking shape. With C-Mart, I am not just driving up his price, but I'm adding quality depth at the RB position. He'll be a more than solid bye week filler for Alexander and Portis. My roster will have great starters and decent depth at the RB position with Martin as RB3 and Perry and Fargas waiting in the wings. I'm sacrificing depth at positions but I'm trying to win this year, not 5 years from now, which you're heading towards looking at your roster right now. I'm placing all my faith in having an injury free season (to my starters at least), but if they do stay healthy I'd take my starting lineup over anyone's. Williams won't be overpriced until he reaches around 2800 IMO. In the UFA market RB prices tend to be a bit higher because teams are scrambling for them. And overpriced depends on he team. RW would be overpriced to you b/c you won't be competing for a championship this year. For Philly (at least he should think this way) Williams would make him an instant contender. |

Re: y'all are NUTS
If you look at it that way!
Then I could turn it around and say, I was willing to pay 3000 for RW, and extra 250 for the better RB is not a bad deal. *NOTE: This was the rationalization process I went through during this ordeal. However, I'm still happy with the outcome. |
Re: y'all are NUTS
Hey, I'm a realistic guy. I'm not going to sit here and blow smoke up anyone's @$$. My team is in transition, no doubt. I knew that going into this season. If I get Ricky, I will make one last attempt at a playoff run. If I dont get him then so be it, I'll go into full blown rebuilding mode and enjoy a new kind of challenge. Once I decided to void Shaun's contract I knew it would be very difficult to make a championship run. I could have easily had the same core (Ricky, Shaun, Moss and Hasselbeck) from last year's team that was the overall #1 seed. I gave that up for the good of the league and I dont regret it one bit. I find it ironic that the one person that benefits the most from my sacrifice is the one person dogging my team because it wont be competitive for another "five years." Have no fear Frank and mark the tape! BDSC will come back and be stronger than ever.
:football :wow :WinkKiss Right now you're team looks light-years better than mine but as we all know anything can happen in FF. Just ask Jersey and his miracle run in 2002. And how come you're only generous enough to offer advice when it hurts a division rival? Dont put Matt on the spot. Do you're own dirty work, if you're so sure that I'll outbid anyone for Ricky, why not bid him up yourself? Once bitten twice shy eh? :caution :whistle :angel :D I love friendly trash talk! Only 100 days till Kickoff! :toast: |

DirecTV is cheaper or as cheap as cable.
No need to subscribe to the ticket unless you feel the desire, and seeing as your 6 hours off that'd be insane! The NFL network is part of the basic package, and is awesome to have! |
Re: y'all are NUTS
NFL Ticket would be awesome! And the 6-hour time zone change is only a problem because my "job" requires that I work Sunday mornings. The first NFL games comes on at 7am (8am once daylight savings time ends)... with the second games around 11am. I'm "on the job" from about 7:30am until noon, HST. So I get to watch the 2nd half of the late game, and the "Sunday Night Game".
Now, if I could land a job at a church where they don't worship on Sundays... |

But understand that I won't hold off calling you're team crappy w/ or w/o Ricky Williams because you did a great deed! This is Fantasy Football SON! No room for sympathy and mercy. And as for my advice of course I'll give it if it would hurt effect a division rival! |
Re: y'all are NUTS
Also just letting people know, if youw ant C-Mart one more raise and I'm out of the bidding. Max i can offer him is 1505!

Unlike you Frank, I value EVERY roster slot as having developmental or depth value. Taking up a roster slot on an underproductive player hoping 1 day he will produce (regardless of salary) is giving up some value. I did the same thing with Santana Moss for a year in 2002, until he developed in 2003. There have been countless others who didn't develop however. |

Re: y'all are NUTS
haha no mistake.
With C-Mart, two defenses, and promoting Kellen Winslow I meet all the minimum roster requirements. QB: Steve McNair RB: Portis, Alexander WR: Coles, S.Smith, K-Rob TE: Winslow BU: Martin, RB Porter, WR Morgan, WR Jolley, TE Are a great set of players IMO. I don't have to worry about McNair missing too many games, because he's a gamer and i have back ups for every other position. Only reason I bring up (the raise on C-Mart) is there are two QBs, I like alot (Delhomme and McCown) and I'd like to nab one of the two since they're going so cheap. If they were not around, then there is verry few players in UFA I like and that will help me as much as C-Mart. Either way it's a win-win situation for me. Just incase you've been wondering I've had this situation panned out since the before the draft (that is why I coveted Winslow, and wanted to add another pick to get an RB). I'll admit I was planning cutting Morgan, instead of Lamar Gordon but the drafting of Jackson by the Ram's made that decision for me. This year is MINE! |
Re: y'all are NUTS
Damn you Derby Cars!
I was trying to play some reverse psychology. I really wanted Martin! No I'm going ot have to go conventional and build for depth. |
Re: y'all are NUTS
Hey Jersey, how's that bid on Driver treating you? Miss judge his market at all? Seeing that bid hold up is a nice consolation for you upping Pitt at the last minute. Good luck with him.

Re: y'all are NUTS
we'll see.....you never really know what a player will do, I bid 100 on McCardell last year and not one person upped him and look what he did last year....I think 600 is just fine for a solid WR. I really don't care what others are saying, I felt like I if I bid 600 on him that I would have a chance to land him without much resistance and I did. Now my lineup is looking pretty damn solid to me and I'm pretty happy with the outcome. I'm sorry you're a little bitter about me upping Pitt D, but I couldn't let them go for only a 100 cb's. Happy bidding
|
Re: y'all are NUTS
Let's keep the bidding going on these tight ends. Bubba Franks just called and said he was a little embarrased about being one of the top 5 tight ends in the league. I'd like to be able to help him sleep at night. Thanks guys!
