NO MAJORITY Rule Proposal - 2017 Schedule Options
Here are the 2017 Byes,
4 None 5 Atlanta, Denver, New Orleans, Washington 6 Buffalo, Cincinatti, Dallas, Seattle 7 Detroit, Houston 8 Arizona, Green Bay, Jacksonville, LA Rams, NY Giants, Tennessee 9 Chicago, Cleveland, LA Chargers, Minnesota, New England, Pittsburgh 10 Baltimore, Kansas City, Oakland, Philadephia 11 Carolina, Indianapolis, Miami, NY Jets, San Francisco, Tampa Bay 12 None 13 None How do we want to formulate the 2017 schedule? Obviously weeks 1, 2, 3, 12 and 13 will be divisional since they have no byes OPTION A Keep the 14 week schedule and make weeks 12, 13, 14 the 2nd division games OPTION B Change back to a 13 week season and make weeks 1, 2, 3, 4, 12 & 13 the 6 Division games and have a double header one of the weeks for the 14th game OPTION C Change back to a 13 week season and make weeks 1, 2, 3, 4, 12 & 13 the 6 Division games and play a 13 game season leaving out one of the non-division foes (rotating the omitted team each season) |
Re: Rule Proposal - 2017 Schedule Options
We need to get this vote sorted out to finalize a schedule in MFL for this season.
|
Re: Rule Proposal - 2017 Schedule Options
How is C even an option??? That would be an 8 year rotating schedule and who really knows where the scheduling will go in any given year....not for that in any capacity...
|
Re: Rule Proposal - 2017 Schedule Options
How come there appears to not be current discussions about options outside of these 3 choices??? I know last year there was some discussion but now we are looking at a long term solution...I can't understand why any owner wouldn't want to test their team against every other team during the regular season...there is just too much chance on which team you skip being great that year or a dog and you miss them...nope dont like it one bit...

I brought up discussion on the 2017 schedule in last years Poll thread back in April but it didn't generate much discussion outside the above 3 options. Personally I dislike not playing every team, but DESPISE double headers. Others despise the wk 17 championship. I have no problem with a week 17 championship and loved the season being a week longer and nearly everyone being competitive through the end. I also dislike that in a 13 week scenario we're forced to have 4 division games in the first 4 weeks of the season. I much prefer the 14 week setup where we start with division games weeks 1-3 and end the season with the division games weeks 12-14. If you have an alternate idea, please, please bring something up, otherwise, as a league we need to figure this out now so the schedule can be set in MFL for the upcoming season. |
Re: Rule Proposal - 2017 Schedule Options
Option C alternative - rotate playing one division opponent only once in season
Option B alternative - division opponent double header week 4 or 12 |
Re: Rule Proposal - 2017 Schedule Options
Another option for a 13 week season, play each division opponent 3 times (once during byes), and play 2 teams from each of the other divisions (rotating seasonally), or play one of the other divisions 1 year, and the other the next (which creates 2 year rotations).
This would be a DIVISION heavy schedule with 9 of 13 games within your own division. FWIW, of all the options, I still vastly prefer the 14 week season. |
Re: Rule Proposal - 2017 Schedule Options
Personally, it's enough work getting the new season under way, especially with the 'new MFL features', that as commish of SAC'd having to do this each year, I would be opposed to anything that is not easily set in MFL. a double header is easily set, and adjusted one week is also not that difficult. Having to manually set the entire schedule, well.....

Re: Rule Proposal - 2017 Schedule Options
I have no problem manually adjusting the schedules. There are a ton of pre-loaded options that meet these proposals and only a few weeks need to be jostled. I'll do it. Easy peasy.

Re: Rule Proposal - 2017 Schedule Options
OK, I had to log onto MFL to check. Quite a few options, each of which seem to be available in the options above. This was my main concern, so no issue with any of these, other than personal preference.
Although Option C seems wrong. We have 8 non division opponents, not 6. So we would play 7, not 5. I see that as an option in scheduling |
Re: Rule Proposal - 2017 Schedule Options
and since I cannot vote again, I would also like to include option C in my choices...all but A

This comes from the two teams in last year's championship game. Mike DESPISES double-headers. Burt and I DESPISE week 17 games. Option C seems like good middle-ground. |
Re: Rule Proposal - 2017 Schedule Options
How did a 12 team league get 13 votes?!?

Hmmm... didn't know that. I'll reconsider other options, then.

11 of the 12 teams have voted. All but the Freedom. And we're still not close to a majority vote on any of the options. |

Re: Rule Proposal - 2017 Schedule Options
Obviously, we have not reached enough of a consensus to create a change in the rules. So at this point, we'll stick with what we already have in place. Of course, if someone wants to create another rule change option & get it voted on in the next few weeks, go for it. But by the time NFL training camps start, the schedule will be locked in.
|
Re: Rule Proposal - 2017 Schedule Options
Carefull...the rules say any rule changes after the draft starts needs 100% consensus to pass...do you really think this one will get 100%???

FWIW all of the other votes were started before the rookie draft except the runoff on the TS demotions. All of these will be in effect for the 2017 season including the runoff since the originating Poll started before the draft. |
Re: NO MAJORITY Rule Proposal - 2017 Schedule Options
Hold on a minute. This was stated as a "1 year trial schedule change" last year. To me that means we revert back to previous double-header schedule since last year's vote wasn't a permanent vote.
|
Re: NO MAJORITY Rule Proposal - 2017 Schedule Options
And clearly last year's 9-3 vote lost favor this year as only 6 teams voted for a 14 week regular season this year.
|
Re: NO MAJORITY Rule Proposal - 2017 Schedule Options
Patrick, your first point has more merit. Let me check that thread.
|
Re: NO MAJORITY Rule Proposal - 2017 Schedule Options
Ok. Just teread the original thread. It does say one year trial... with the option of revisiting it annually. Clearly, the league is not settled on this. So I think Patrick's point of reverting back to the former status should override the status quo. That's how I read it.
I think we need to have a schedule in place by training camps. So if anyone wants to offer additional options to be voted on, go for it. But as of now, we revert back to a week 16 championship with double headers. |
Re: NO MAJORITY Rule Proposal - 2017 Schedule Options
Pretty sure Sword has a solid point there...this was temporary and if we revert back to anything it may just have to be the double headers...MAN!! Sword jumped straight on that!!!
I like it!!! YOU GO BOY!!!! |
Re: NO MAJORITY Rule Proposal - 2017 Schedule Options
Did you read my last post?
|
Re: NO MAJORITY Rule Proposal - 2017 Schedule Options
No argument here, is what it is. DESPISE the double header and will fight against it again next year.
