PASSES 9-3 - 2016 14 week Schedule Change Proposal
With the never ending stretching of the bye weeks, and byes scheduled for the 2016 season that have 4 teams off week 11 and 2 teams off week 13 (weeks that are traditionally division games as well as our double header week), I'd like to recommend we do a 1 year trial schedule change that would extend 2016 into a 14 week season and run the playoffs from weeks 15-17.
Division games would then be scheduled weeks 1,2,3, and 12,13,14, with 2 teams on bye week 13 and none the other weeks. For 2016 the 2 teams on bye week 13 are Cleveland and Tennessee. This rule can be revisited each season when the schedule comes out and adjusted annually as agreed upon by the league. What say you all? |
Re: Schedule Change Proposal
Hmmm... That leaves the championship game during the dreaded week 17. That kinda sucks.

Re: Schedule Change Proposal
True... So you think that risk is better than a double header during week 12 this year? No byes then.

LOL I will say I hate the double headers. Would rather have the week 17 championship. Especially these days when the NFL is so tight year in and out. |
Re: Schedule Change Proposal
I guess championship teams can always pick up one-week fill-in players if need be, too. Ok. You've convinced me.

Re: Schedule Change Proposal
Ugh. I still don't like the week 17 games in fantasy football. Still have players who get rested.
What about eliminating the double-header and just not play a non-division opponent? Rotate the division and team yearly. |
Re: Schedule Change Proposal
Or put the double-header on week 12 when no one is on bye (one division opponent and one non-division opponent)
|
Re: Schedule Change Proposal
I think the benefit of a balanced 14 week schedule far outweighs the week 17 championship concerns. Both championship teams face the same risks week 17, and honestly the way week 17 has shaped in recent years has seen few star players rested, while others have had some huge performances.
Personally, I despise the double header and an unbalanced schedule. |

Still need votes from Killer Bees, Llamas, Cards and SBDC

Re: PASSES 9-3 - Schedule Change Proposal
The 2016 Schedule Change proposal has passed 9-3.
For 2016, the Frenzy will run as a 14 week regular season with no doubleheaders. Division games will be weeks 1,2,3 and 12,13,14. The playoffs will run weeks 15-17. This rule will be revoted on for the 2017 season after the 2017 schedule is released. |
Re: PASSES 9-3 - Schedule Change Proposal
I've modified the 2016 schedule on MFL to a 14 week schedule with division games weeks 1,2,3 and 12,13,14.
Inter-Division games are weeks 4-11 with even weeks (4,6,8,10) against one division and odd weeks (5,7,9,11) against the other. |
Re: PASSES 9-3 - Schedule Change Proposal
Thanks for the hard work...now we will see how it pans out...my other league has championship week 17 also...a little bit of a crap shoot...
|
Re: PASSES 9-3 - Schedule Change Proposal
Pretty interesting to see that two of the three teams opposed to this rule change are in the finals...and it sounds like each team's top player will have limited reps or possibly not even play in week 17.

Re: PASSES 9-3 - Schedule Change Proposal
I'm for revisiting it for next season.
|
Re: PASSES 9-3 - Schedule Change Proposal
I'm still 100% behind the change. One it made for a longer season for everyone and all but 1 spot went down to the final week of the regular season. 2. Double Headers SUCK. 3. Everyone's on equal footing week 17, you made it this far, find a way.
|
Re: PASSES 9-3 - Schedule Change Proposal
I'm still 100% against the change. I got here riding Bell, and now cannot use him in the Championship...yes will make due, but would be nice to have the flexibility to replace him, since not having ability to put a high priced resting player on IR hampers that ability...but yes, its true...WE made it this far, and will be playing for the trophy this weekend and will give it our 'best' shot...

Re: PASSES 9-3 - Schedule Change Proposal
You did NOT get there on Bell's back save for the final weeks of the season. You got where you were with some really fortunate matchups from the football gods early in the season. Your All Play record was below .500 on the year which made it stunning that you made the playoffs at all! Yes Bell got rolling in the last few weeks which further propelled you, but without several very fortunate matchups you didn't even belong in the playoffs, much less the Championship!

Re: PASSES 9-3 - Schedule Change Proposal
I'm for revisiting the regular season schedule next year after we see the 2017 NFL schedule. At this moment I don't like the double header week and don't like the week 17 final game either so I would probably vote for 1 less game in season with adding a game when NFL does.
Coming up with a line up that will get meaningful snaps for the 2 teams in our championship is a major headache... especially with the new NFL injury declaration system, coach speak and Frenzy's free agent pick up system (Not complaining Mike. just saying the process isn't quick). Relevent playing info (especially for week 17) seems to flip flop every minute right up to kickoff. It's like a chess game on steroids!!! Good Luck to both Patrick and Burt!!! |
Re: PASSES 9-3 - Schedule Change Proposal
Week 17 seems like more of a crapshoot than the 4th preseason game :)
Anyway, this is a 1 year trial run. I don't mind the double header, but I understand why others don't like it. I still like my original option that everyone seemed to overlook: teams don't play one non-division team - rotate team each year |
Re: PASSES 9-3 - Schedule Change Proposal
Here are the 2017 Byes,
4 None 5 Atlanta, Denver, New Orleans, Washington 6 Buffalo, Cincinatti, Dallas, Seattle 7 Detroit, Houston 8 Arizona, Green Bay, Jacksonville, LA Rams, NY Giants, Tennessee 9 Chicago, Cleveland, LA Chargers, Minnesota, New England, Pittsburgh 10 Baltimore, Kansas City, Oakland, Philadephia 11 Carolina, Indianapolis, Miami, NY Jets, San Francisco, Tampa Bay 12 None 13 None How do we want to formulate the 2017 schedule? Obviously weeks 1, 2, 3, 12 and 13 will be divisional since they have no byes Question is do we keep with the 14 week schedule and make weeks 12, 13, 14 the 2nd division games? or Do we go with a 13 week season and make weeks 1,2,3,4,12 & 13 the 6 Division games and have a double header one of the weeks for the 14th game? or Do we go with a 13 week season and make weeks 1,2,3,4,12 & 13 the 6 Division games and play a 13 game season leaving out one of the non-division foes? Personally I like the 14 week regular season and playong everyone once. I think you all know i DESPISE the doubleheaders. I could tolerate the 3rd option but really prefer we go with another season with 14 regular season games. I loved how it kept things alive for most till the very end and kept us all playing near to the end of the year. I'm only 1 vote though, lets discuss to see i anyone has ideas on a 4th option or if there is enough supposrt to move away from the 14 week season we had last year. |
Re: PASSES 9-3 - Schedule Change Proposal
I like playing everyone once. I'd suggest either a double header on one of the non bye weeks or stick with the 14-week season. I'm open to either.

Re: PASSES 9-3 - Schedule Change Proposal
I'm for anything that doesn't include the champion ship game in NFL week 17.

We've only had one season of a 14 week regular season. Let's give it more time then.
