Burners sent 2014 3.08 selection to Opihi in exchange for RB Mark Ingram

+ Preds get Burners 2014 4.08 and Burners get Preds 2014 4.12 in revised trade involving Mike's 2013 1.13 pick.

In conclusion, Burners picks in 2014 are: 1.08, 3.11 and 4.12.

Isn't there a remote little known clause that awards new owners an additional pick in the 2nd or 3rd round depending on finishing the previous season in the lower half of the league? I can't remember if it was a 2nd or 3rd rounder. Can someone advise? Thanks....

Spearking of the rookie draft, I'm in favor of doing it ASAP after this weekend. Monday works for me. My end of month Ireland plans were moved back a week and about 8,000 miles in the opposite direction.

I will be hiking all over the Hawaiian islands from 5/29-6/10, so would love to wrap the draft up before then if at all possible, though if we wait I suppose I'll be able to take a few sneak peaks at the Opihi's draft strategies.

Unlimited 5th round picks your first year. The only caveat is that those players selected don't qualify for the Active squad, Taxi squad or Practice squads for their first 5 seasons.

I would prefer to have a couple weeks after draft to do some research...I have read up on most of the top names and then some, but would like to be able to read up more, and see how each pick fits in with the team they are drafted by.

I am sure they have internet in Ireland.

We switched up plans and are going to Hawaii instead of Ireland, and also a week later. I will fly to Oahu in the evening on 5/29 arriving 5/30 in the wee am, then will be be on a ship 5/31-6/7 sailing from island to island before returning to Oahu for a couple nights 6/7-6/9 and then flying home arriving 6/10.

I will have no internet while onboard , and during the day while I will have access on my cellphone, we'll be up in the mountains hiking, thus limited to no internet then as well. Further, I can guarantee I will not be even thinking about rookie picks that week.

Honestly I'm fine with whatever, and will figure out a way if need be.

I have a feeling my picks will be slow in coming due to access to both research on players and the internet itself when I'm on the road.

I'd leave a list with Burt or Jim, but honestly, I usually research players within a few picks range of mine and decide once on the clock. I don't create a draft board per se, save the first round.

Sadly, the Frenzy Draft is the highlight of my summer... sigh. Started new job in February and no vacation time 1st year.
I am flexible BUT I would prefer a time frame where Mike (and others) can give their selections the proper attention needed. I wouldn't be opposed to suspending the clock as long as we communicate an estimated time frame when we could expect the owner on the clock to make his choice. We could use the "Away" thread as we have in the past.

I love the rookie draft too, it's always a great time, which is why I hate to be away from the fun and being able to actually be involved with picks!

Like I mentioned earlier, I'm all for starting as early as people are able, we don't want it to drag too long into June though as that messes with the UFA period.

We will not be doing the draft this weekend... or even next. That's too soon after the NFL draft. We all need time to process what happens in the draft. Or maybe it's just me. But I think the 2 weeks provisions in our rules are there for a reason.

That being said... we usually get our draft done rather quickly once it gets started. Mike will be "on vacation" from 5/29... so what if we start the draft on WEDNESDAY, MAY 21st? That gives us almost two weeks from the start of the NFL draft (that Thursday first round spectacle). That would give us a full 8 days before Mike goes away.

Is everyone else able to make a 5/21 start date?

I was just seeing who was paying attention...I like the unlimited 5th rounders though - and cant put them on active, taxi, or practice squads...well...not for the first 5 years...sweet...NOT....The Card Nation is ready to draft when ever it is convenient for those of you subjecting the rest of us to your rules....Don't take that the wrong way - some of us are rule makers and some are rule followers...just let us know as soon as possible so we can take a break from writing 6-8 page papers for school and shoot in a draft pick....
