Hey guys,

I've updated the roster app through Monday evening 6/17. Please send me a PM if you notice I missed something or made an error.

Mike

Gimmie a "U"...

Gimmie a "P"...

Gimmie a "D"...

Gimmie an "A"...

Gimmie a "T"...

Gimmie an "E"...

What's that spell, Mike?

:D  :D ;)

Preds October 12th, 2002 10:26 PM

OK, you incompetant fools, the app is updated again (through all sold moves accept Northcutt since the Wyverns don't have the cap space, and Steve Smith for Hawaii since they don't have a DS slot for him)...

FYI, ever here of downloading the app yourself and modifying your own team via excel to know where you stand at all times until the next release?

Jeesh :moon:

I'm enforcing penalties whether the app is current or not. Each owner is responsible for MANAGING THEIR OWN TEAM. The app is just a tool to help us all... you're all relying on it too much like a crutch. :kill:

K, I feel better now LOL :tipsey: :toast:

Royal Hawaiian Opihi October 12th, 2002 11:16 PM

Let it out Mike... Let it out... ranting is good for the soul, from time to time.

Mea Culpa on the DS space (thought I had gotten rid of Mealey already)...

And... when you get the chance...:D ... could you update the Conway/1st Round Draft Pick trade between the Opihi and the Freedom on the app?

Thanks!!!:)

Will take into account your suggestion about downloading the app myself. Thought this was a full-service website! No worries!

Sorry, forgot to take Conway off your roster. It's all updated again.

Preds June 6th, 2003 01:41 AM

Guess what...

Yes, it's true, I finally got around to a complete roster update, PLUS... I've added a new bonus feature (with some assistance from the Freedom). There is now a summary tab, which details all 12 rosters on 1 page in neat little boxes :D!

This update reflects the 2003 rookie draft as well as all moves through 6/5.

Additionally, the Draft Tracker files have been updated as well.

Enjoy!

Oh,and of course, PLEASE CHECK IT FOR ERRORS, and don't just check your own team... its quite easy to forget or misplace a move here and there. Post any corrections by replying to this thread.

BTW, anyone else besides me wondering how the Undead are going to fill out their roster with just 711 cb's left and up to 8 empty roster slots? :p

Ypsilanti Undead June 6th, 2003 09:49 AM

Fortunately for the Undead, there's no requirement to fill those 8 empty roster spots! We're going thin and potent this year, sho'nuff!

Royal Hawaiian Opihi June 6th, 2003 02:14 PM

True! As long as you have 5 spots for TE, K, Ds... you're set. Then you just have to hold out for a healthy season (easier said than done, sometimes).

Yep, and the Undead currently have to fill at least 4 of those openings...

Nittany Dodgers June 13th, 2003 11:16 AM

Mike, SeaBass only has four years left on his contract for the Dodgers, not five.

Maybe I've got it wrong, but my understanding is that those 5 slots are dedicated to the positions of TE, K and D... but there is no requirement to fill those 5 slots, as long as minimum roster requirements are met (which include 1 TE, 1 K and 1 D). I just can't use any unfilled slots for other positions. Am I missing something?

Royal Hawaiian Opihi June 13th, 2003 03:59 PM

Good point. I would say you have it correct. You're only required to have the minimum... but if you want to max out your roster, then the final two spots (slots 17 and 18) need to be with a K/TE/D. However, I'm not on the rules committee...

Preds June 13th, 2003 05:34 PM

I don't read it that way at all myself, my interpretation and understanding of the rules was that you need to carry at least 5 among TE, K, and D. We added 500cb's in cap space to accomodate these 2 extra players. Using the cap but not the roster slots is unacceptable IMO.

Royal Hawaiian Opihi June 13th, 2003 07:08 PM

That's true... hadn't thought about the cap space, too! Heck, my roster is full... so I've got no gripes... but I wonder if teams (ie. Undead) will argue for not using the cap or the extra spaces?

I'll leave it up to the rules committee... but the OPIHI will have a full 18-man roster, that's for sure! Why wouldn't everyone else???!?!

RABID LLAMAS June 14th, 2003 01:44 PM

Sounds like a rules committee thing, but I read it as you MUST fill the 5 slots.

Urza's Ragers June 15th, 2003 05:06 AM

That's the way I understand it, must fill the 5 slots with the one either TE, K or D

Ypsilanti Undead June 16th, 2003 05:08 PM

I took my interpretation from the following statements made by Brian (http://vbb.predatorsfootball.com/sho...&threadid=1876):

Quote:

and
Quote:

5 of the 18 roster spots are dedicated to TE, K, and D. You could also look at it like you cannot have more than 13 combined QBs, RBs, and WRs.
In the thread where this was voted on (http://vbb.predatorsfootball.com/sho...&threadid=1871) it was never settled whether the roster minimum should be increased from 13 to 15 players. So my understanding was that the minimum was still 13, and that my only "penalty" for not keeping 5 players among TE/K/D was to forfeit that roster spot, which only meant I couldn't use it for any other position.

So if those roster spots are mandatory, that needs to be clarified and the penalty needs to be stated (and please let me know if it has been clarified and I missed it). I will happily abide by whatever the rule is, I just need to know what it is!

I suppose I should post this in the rules forum also.

Preds June 16th, 2003 06:58 PM

I specifically brought the issue up to Brien and others regarding upping the minimum roster size, but my opinion was squashed since the others felt the 5 man requirement combined with the 13 man limit was sufficient.

No way would I have voted for a cap increase that didn't make the positions added mandatory. You must carry at least 5 players among TE, K, and D, and you must have a legal starting lineup, and the minimum roster size is 13, they are all inclusive.

No ways around it Jeremy.

A newly updated roster app has been posted to the board.

With the declaration deadline (DS/contract years, etc) fast approaching (Friday at midnight) I figured an updated app might be of help to y'all ;).

As always, let me know if I missed something or if there are errors.

Roster App updated thru 9/11... Peackeepers over the Cap

I've updated the roster app to reflect all moves through yesterday (9/11).

In the process of updated, I noticed that the Peacekeeper have exceeded the cap by 42 cb's due to their trade for WR Troy Brown.

I have to look up the rules on the penalty, but a penalty WILL BE imposed. In the meantime, the Peacekeepers need to get under the cap ASAP.

Royal Hawaiian Opihi September 12th, 2003 03:13 PM

Thanks, Mike! The only change that needs to be made is that I signed Lamont Jordan to a 5 year contract ... roster app says 3 year. Thanks.

Roster App updated through 9/26

I've updated the Roster App througb 9/26. As always, please check it for errors.

Also note the former Peacekeepers franchise (now the Derby Cars) is still OVER the cap by 42cb's from their tradewith the Opihi for Troy Brown.

Nate, we need you to release a player to get under the cap ASAP.

Preds October 1st, 2003 11:10 PM

FYI, the Roster App is 100% up to date for all moves through 10/1/03.

The FLM website should also be 100% updated.

I'm out of town in Indiana and I still made time for y'all to keep the roster app up to date. :wow

I haven't updated the FLM website, Jake will need to do that.

As always, please check your roster (and others if you'd like) to make sure I didn't miss something or make an error.

All moves are current except for bids sold on Saturday 10/18 and those players still unsold as of today.

Jake needs to make sure that FLM is updated to reflect this weeks transactions.

Preds October 23rd, 2003 10:12 AM

As I write this an updated version of the roster app is being uploaded that reflects all moves through the time of this post.

As usual, the FLM site will need to be updated by Jake, but the app is again current.

Preds November 7th, 2003 12:24 AM

There were a ton of moves over the past 2 weeks, so please double check your rosters (and others if you so choose) for accuracy.

All moves finalized through Thursday 11/6/03 are posted.

Jake needs to update FLM for this weeks moves still I believe.

Final 2003 Roster App Update is IN!

Yup, I finally got my laptop back (woo hoo!) and dedicated the evening to putting out the final roster app for the 2003 season.

As always, please check your team (and others) for errors.

I'm going to begin working on the 2004 app in the next week or so.

Also, just in case you missed it, the draft tracker has been updated in preperation for the 2004 rookie draft and reflects not only the correct draft order, but also any trades that have ocurred up to this point.

:p I've gotten ahead of myself this year (no big international trip pending) and have the 1st installment of the 2004 Roster App ready.

I haven't acounted for any rules changes, like the proposed Signing Bonus/multiple year contract hits just yet, but having the app ready for 2004 will make it easier for me to figure out the easiest way to track these changes if they do indeed pass.

Anyhow, get a heads up on the 2004 campaign and check out the status of your team as well as everybody elses!

Royal Hawaiian Opihi January 20th, 2004 01:39 PM

Great work, as usual, Mike! And I like the "top paid players" page you threw in there, free of charge! lol Kudos.

Can't wait for next season...

Hey, I've tried downloading the roster app both at home and at work, and when I try to open the file I get an error message, saying the file is read only or the server can't be accessed.... I am right clicking the link to the download version, and it is saving a ~600KB file to my hard drive, but Excel is pretty unhappy with it. Anyone else having this problem?

(And of course, I didn't bother to back up the RosterApp file I had been using, so I overwrote it when I donwloaded the new one. Pretty smart.)

Actually the file is about 837k. Are you sure you downloaded the whole file without timing out?

I just downloaded and opened it without incident. When did you last try downloading it? I had a problem with the upload yesterday morning, but fixed it in the afternoon.

The current file is working for me, wanna try the download again?

Also, you may want to delete your existing file 1st, just to be on the safe side.

Mike, there is a relatively insignificant error on the roster app. On the Top Paid Players tab, the Top 5 Average calculation is using the average of the top 3 players as one of the figures in the calculation for the averages (ie, it is averaging 6 numbers, not five). Not a big deal, just wanted to point that out since i was looking at Bubba Franks moving out of the top 3 for tight ends. :)

After a month and a half I've finally gotten around to updating the RosterApp (fortunately there were only 10-15 moves to update), and everything is good except 1 thing.
The Dodgers picked up Delhomme, and didn't have room on their roster to accomodate him, nor could I find a cut anywhere.

If I'm missing something, please advise, otherwise, we need to get with Brian and figure out a solution. I really don't want to penalize anyone during the doldrums of the off-season, but then we do have rules.

I'd love input from the league on how to handle this, do we go by the book, or do we ease up since we're so deep into the off-season and ask Brian to make a cut as soon as he gets back?

For now I've left Delhomme off his rster until space is made or the league reaches a decision.

Didn't we have something like this happen before and we decided to give people one chance without penalty (actually it may have been with line-up submissions)? I don't have a preference one way or other but since it could happen to everyone I would say he just makes a cut and we move on.

Speaking of moving on, what is the deadline for finalizing rosters? I know it was August 15 and we talked about moving back until later August. Was a final date settled on yet?

Im alright with letting him cut a guy once he gets back.

We're in the offseason and with some much movement it's hard to keep track of your the rosters. Well actually it's not too hard, but I can understand. Plus we're only in the off-season.

I think you're referring to what happened to me last season... by failing to change my lineup, I got stuck with a penalty that ended up costing me the game, AND was going to be hit with a cap reduction, too. I believe we voted to allow once a year a team to "forget" to update their lineup without penalty (though I still had to eat the point discrepency).

I'm all for giving people grace, but this league has been a pretty tight stickler for rules in the past.

Mutts August 5th, 2004 10:28 PM

Re: Roster App Links (View online or Download)

My only thoughts are that if we continue to allow one grace violation during the offseason, we need to go ahead and make that an official policy so every owner in the league is always assured of the same treatment.

Royal Hawaiian Opihi August 6th, 2004 02:21 PM

Re: Roster App Links (View online or Download)

I think, for this league, at least, consistency is key. If we find a rule that seems unfair... or a situation that seems not to be completely covered by the rules, then we should have the right to change things, as a league. Or if there are "extenuating circumstances" that prohibit an owner from following a specific rule, then the RULES COMMITTEE should be able to make a judgment call (without having to legislate one "grace violation" every offseason). I guess the question is, was this incident an "extenuating circumstance" or just a lapse of team management?

Hey guys, sorry I didn't see this thread when I got back. I just Pm'd Mike on it. I think he missed a cut which would have kept me under the limit. If we find otherwise, I'm fine with taking the peanalties on going over. No he's not being counted, the difference you're noticing is the 250cb cap penalty for exceeding the roster declaration time limit (Jake also was assessed this) and 120 cb's from 2004 soft cap hits.
