Who's willing to do the work to keep the Frenzy going?
I have a feeling that, until there’s a deadline, no one’s going to want to step up to do the work. With Mike gone and Brian stepping back to a (well-deserved) team-manager-only role, these are the tasks that I think need to be accomplished. Assuming we don’t have two people who want to step up and do half of the work as Mike and Brian did last year, perhaps a bunch of us can take a smaller piece. So my suggestion is that people step up to fill the following roles by February 15. If not, we call it a day.
#1: Commissioner: someone to manage infractions, new issues, owner issues, etc. #2: Website Updater (Jason?) #3: Spreadsheet Updater [#2 and #3 would work closely together and between the two of them would manage bid closings] #4: Rules Manager/Updater (runs the voting threads and the rules page, which has a lot of work to be done to it) #5: Calendar Manager (someone to keep track of and post regarding upcoming events: "hard cap period is ending", etc) I suggest that the Rules Committee be made up of the Commish, Rules Updater, and Calendar Manager. Personally, I don’t want to be more than an owner, but I also don’t want to see this league fold (after I spent a whole year building my team!). I’m willing to take on one of these roles for one year. My thought is that these are one year commitments and then we re-assess next off-season. I don’t necessarily feel I’ve been around long enough to be Commish or a rules person, but updating the website would be OK for me. If someone has a better approach, post it. Otherwise, can we get 4 other people willing to take a role? Note: I realize that in the Rules we have a Commissioner, Rules Chairman, Capologist, and League Assistant, but we didn’t really use those roles this year anyway. I think the breakdown I propose is more likely to keep us rolling. |

Edit re-edit re-edit ;) (Jim and I posting at the same time)
Thanks, Jim :D |

I'd be willing to help.

Re: Who's willing to do the work to keep the Frenzy going?
wow... great minds post alike.
No preference, really... assign me to whatever no one else wants to do. |
Re: Who's willing to do the work to keep the Frenzy going?
Hey Guys, when you decide who does what, you can always get with me with any Website update questions....really not a whole lot to it, so I am sure you guys can figure it out...but in case Mike isn't around to help, drop me a line....

Re: Who's willing to do the work to keep the Frenzy going?
I would prefer to be an owner but could be the Calendar Manager if need be. Also, I think there might be someway to program this website to put the messages up about upcoming dates.

I'll do the draft spreadsheet. Figuring out what picks got traded and such and updating it during the rookie draft dates.

Re: Who's willing to do the work to keep the Frenzy going?
Update on the positions needed...
#1: Commissioner: Brian (Dodgers) #2: Website Updater (Jason?) #3: Spreadsheet Updater - Joel (Amish) #4: Rules Manager/Updater - Jim (Opihi) #5: Calendar Manager - Matt (Freedom) Ready to jump in: Jim (Opihi)... I'll take either commisioner or rules manager... depending on whatever doesn't get taken. So if Jason's set for the website updater, then we only need ONE MORE person to take responsibility! "Buehler? Buehler?" |
Re: Who's willing to do the work to keep the Frenzy going?
Whoa, hang tight before you slot Joel in for spreadsheet updater.
Joel, you only mentioned the draft spreadsheet. I guess I hadn't even thought of that. I was thinking of the roster spreadsheet. That person and I (as website updater) would be the ones doing the updating for every transaction that occurs all year long. I guess I'd prefer to have the same person update both the roster and draft spreadsheets, but if you really want to just do the draft spreadsheet, it'd be fine with me to break the two out. What say you? |
Re: Who's willing to do the work to keep the Frenzy going?
I'll take on the comish role. Jim, the rules doc is way outdated and I'm sorry for leaving that to you, but I just can't find the time to give that the propper attention it deserves. I can handle dealing with whatever situations come up during the year that need attention.
That said, the first issue will be deciding on the new owners. We apparently have three interested in two slots. We'll have to decide on who gets them. We can either go with the first to be interested, or we can have a leaguewide vote. I have some thoughts, but I'd be interested in hearing others before I expound. |
Re: Who's willing to do the work to keep the Frenzy going?
Fine on the rules. I'm guessing I just have to go over our past rules discussion threads and incorporate it into the rules section. Is there some document I need to work from, or just updating the site is sufficient?
As for owners... I think we should make an informed decision on who we think will be the best owners, rather than first-come. Just my opinion. |
Re: Who's willing to do the work to keep the Frenzy going?
An active owner would be nice, we don't want to go looking for another replacement...

Re: Who's willing to do the work to keep the Frenzy going?
I am happy to do the Calendar work but was wondering if we have the dates determined for 2008. I know we had some issues in 2007 with the times for the Frenzy and SAC'd being different and I want to make sure that I have the correct dates in mind so I can set up the calendar/schedule. Thanks!

Pencil me in for what ever needs to be done, I'm ready to help however I can.
I personally would welcome the Swords back. He is a good, active and competive owner. I think the only reason two leagues were to much because he had just move and started a new job. Now that he is settled, I believe he has the time to handle it. So if the Swords want to come back, I say give him a team. Nothing against the other two potential owners as I don't even know who else has put in the request to join. |
Re: Who's willing to do the work to keep the Frenzy going?
Sorry guys I couldn't pitch in to help, but I just don't have the time I used to.

OR... would you prefer to be the website updater (marking whenever each of the bids closed, etc.)? OR... I'd gladly trade you the rules update position, and I could take one of those. Let us know your interest! |
Re: Who's willing to do the work to keep the Frenzy going?
Actually, now that I think about it, I'd be willing to do the rules (was initially thinking I hadn't been around long enough, but it might be a nice way to put my law-talking-guy skills to use, working on our little "statute" :D).
So, it looks like we have enough people, we just need to figure out who's going to do spreadsheet, website, and rules out of me, Jim, and Nate. Nate, you have a preference? |
Re: Who's willing to do the work to keep the Frenzy going?
I'm more than willing to give up the rules. Honest! I'd probably enjoy being the website guy who marks sales & improper bids, etc. However, if Nate doesn't want to do the spreadsheet update, then I can do that.

Re: Who's willing to do the work to keep the Frenzy going?
Update, here's where we're at w/ responsibilities:
#1: Commissioner: Brian (Dodgers) #2: Website Updater: Jim (Opihi) or Nate (Derby Cars) #3: Roster spreadsheet Updater: Jim (Opihi) or Nate (Derby Cars) #4: Draft spreadsheet updater: Joel (Amish) #5: Rules Manager/Updater: Jason (Popes) #6: Calendar Manager: Matt (Freedom) We're just waiting on input from Nate on roster spreadsheet vs. website. |

I only wish there was such broad level of support when I was around! Really glad to see you're keeping things going. I'll still follow along from the sidelines from time to time. Best of luck to you all! |
Re: Who's willing to do the work to keep the Frenzy going?
I think we all pretty much supported the Preds losing every game. Or was that not broad enough for you, Mike? ;)
