So...
Anyone think the Frenzy should consider allowing teams to suspend players for conduct detrimental to the team to free up cap and roster space much like IR?

Re: So...
AB is most likely going to be suspended by Oakland.
I would be all for 1 slot just for this purpose.. Hold outs, retired or suspended only. |

FWIW, I was trying to laugh at the situation, not looking for any outs on my end. I'll suck it up and deal with things as they go. I knew going in with AB that it could devolve into a mess but took the risk. I didn't anticipate the Gordon holdout when I traded for him. Big mistake on my end (and props to Chuck for thinking ahead avoiding the repeat nightmare). All that said, it is what it is. The Preds will keep fighting to get some wins and be the best we can be under the circumstances. Even without them, I still think we'll be competitive most weeks. We won't be nearly the contender I envisioned with them in the lineup, but don't anticipate a repeat of last years horrible season. Oh well, we'll just enjoy the underdog role for a bit and see what we can do with it! As for 1 slot for holdouts/suspensions, certainly something we could discuss for future years. |
Re: So...
Maybe an an extra IR spot specifically for holdouts and/or suspensions? Same cap impact would make sense to me. Not sure on the time frame... but maybe 4-6 games to start?

Bees: I have room for crazy AB and could use him lol Preds: I'm listening but he's not a cheap one like Albert Wilson Bees: I'd be doing u a favor taking that huge contract haha Preds: I'm good with him. Dispite the off-season antics I'm happy to roll the dice on him even with that contract WHEW!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Re: So...
No thank you...
Cards think every owner should experience the fun of using a completely good 2,000cbs+ roster slot on an over-entitled spoiled athlete who thinks he is underpaid AND take a Zero (as in points) for the entire season...yeah, lots of fun...and oh by the way we had contact with the entire management of Frenzy seeking relief...none was forthcoming...I’m sure none is coming in 2019 either - or beyond...We squeaked into the playoffs with our penalty player, so the gauntlet is laid in front of you Mr Pred...good luck...oh yeah-one sweet bonus is the player still tolls and loses a contract year plus gets a standard 10% pay bump...yay.... |
Re: So...
P.S. Your second “suspension” is gonna be unfortunate...what the hell is AB trying to do??? Seems to me he wants to be semi-forced into retirement...

Others brought up possibly doing something as a future remedy for these situations, and thats still way early in discussions. I have my 2 poison pills and will deal with each accordingly with no whining. I find the situation more comical than anything else, laughter makes the situation much more tolerable. As for AB, the dude is a bi-polar mess. The video tweeted last night was highly entertaining! Love that the Raiders finally grew a set and fined him 215k+ AND voided his guarantees. IMO, he should be suspended by the league, not just the Raiders, for detrimental conduct. If I were the NFL Commish I'd be searching the agreement with the NFLPA to see if he's done enough to be put on the Commissioners Exempt list. If so, I'd suspend his ass for the 2020 campaign at a minimum and not let him back in the league until he seeks medical help and is mentally stable in the future. |
Re: So...
And the Raiders just released AB

Heck...maybe Hunter R gets his shot now...hmmmmm

Re: So...
The guys a complete idiot. He does something that causes him to lose his guaranteed money, then acts like Oakland screwed him. He screwed himself, lol I would be surprised if his next contract is not filled with conditions.
|
Re: So...
Yes, he's totally freakin nuts, however, I'm starting to buy into the possibility that this was all orchestrated so he could be released and choose his own team. That Raiders contract (which has had the guarantee terms posted on Twitter), has far to many easy outs for the team to void the guaranteed money, and AB to then demand to be released or not play. Why would AB allow those terms unless he wanted to craft an out to essentially void the contract if he didn't like the way things looked once he got to Oakland?
Curios to see which teams actually dip their toes in on him. He should be completely toxic, but some teams are going to jump. Seattle? San Fran? New England? Someone is taking on the headcase, though if any player deserved a leaguewide boycott for his actions, it's be AB. #kapgotarawdeal |
Re: So...
and just like that he's a Patriot
|
Re: So...
I am beginning to think he is smarter than all of us... I mean who wants to be a raider... Why would he allow all those outs in his contract? Now he gets to play for the Patriots and have a chance at a super bowl...

The NFL needs to have some sort of penalty for these types of shenanigans by players. The Raiders were screwed. |

Now watch AB be a model Patriot. Asshole. |
Re: So...
Pats must be desperate. I wonder what the odds in Vegas are now for how long he lasts there. AB and Gordan can bunk together, two peas in a pod. Will be interesting to watch, first time AB thinks Brady should have thrown to him, will be a fun show, LOL

knowing their track record, your probably right.

Re: So...
One of the players in my $ redraft league has a unique take on AB's "head case" issue. His theory is that a few years ago when Vontaze Burfict delivered that helmet to helmet shot to AB that it did damage that caused him to start acting different. It was the years following that the Steelers started having problems with AB.
While I haven't checked the time lines of the AB/Steelers issues I thought this was an interesting take. |

Re: So...
Success breeds contempt...
Just look at all those Yankee championships, Dallas back in the day, Pittsburgh with TB12, Buffalo with JK(even though no SB wins), Alabama/Clemson now...nothing coalesces sports fans like someone to cheer against...that being said-shouldn’t we revere what the Pats have done the past 2 decades??? It is simply amazing!!! Sure you can bring up spygate or deflate gate, but those are just haters gonna hate issues...don’t get me wrong here, I am a hater as a Bronco season ticket holder and avid Buckeye...but GOAT is an apt moniker when discussing TB12...just know it’s over for them if/when he retires...Father Time always wins... |
Re: So...
Handicapped without our top 2 salaried players (over 41% of our cap),the depth of the Preds paid off this week with an unexpected division win over the Opihi.
We get AB back next week, and boy will we need him as we try to figure out how to get to the hive so we can finally spray pesticide on the pesky Killer Bees, a team we have yet to beat with a dismal 0/6 record over the past 3 seasons. While we will truly miss Melvin Gordon for this match as he continues his ridiculous holdout, we are thankful for the opportunity to give our top pick Devin “Motor” Singletary another start in Melvin’s place. Motor was a great spark that turned the game around for the Bills yesterday with 98 yards rushing/receiving in the 4th quarter. We expect him to fully be RB1 for the Bills from here on out but hope the Bills will actually run the ball in the first half next week against the Giants. Josh Allen threw 18 straight passes to open the game against the Jets, burning most of the first half and not giving Motor (who started and played 26 snaps in the first half) a chance to show what he could do. Anyhow, while we’re happy for the win this week, our focus now turn to ending the misery of being stung by the Bees for 6 straight games. Hoping and praying we do enough to pull off another unexpected W next week. |
