Pencil in this deal with Shep
Pencilgeeks gives
2010 2.12 and QB Jake Delhomme, CLE (2yr/572cb) Greatshepski gives 2010 2.14 and 2010 3.2 Shep to confirm.. |
Re: Pencil in this deal with Shep
Confirm - No reneg on Delhomme I can do that next year correct since he has 2yrs?
|
Re: Pencil in this deal with Shep
You can reneg him any time prior to March 31 or the start of RFA.
|
Re: Pencil in this deal with Shep
nice collection of picks Pencilgeeks
and i gota say WTF |
Re: Pencil in this deal with Shep
And I need him to whiff on, o, shall I say all of them; for me to gain any ground.
|
Re: Pencil in this deal with Shep
you can reneg him now for 150cb or 5% increase...next year will be 300cb or 10% increase - both are whichever is greater

Re: Pencil in this deal with Shep
i'm not sure about that
the way i read this, it specificaly says a player traded can have his renegotiated for 150/5, doesnt even mention 300 in that phrase, so it would have to mean it applies the 150. A player with less than one year remaining on his contract can only have his contract renegotiated if he is traded to another team.Once traded, the contract can be renegotiated with a raise of 5% or 150cb to the current year salary, whichever is greater. The contract can be extended up to the standard maximum of five years. |
Re: Pencil in this deal with Shep
actually the way this reads, i can renegotiate a player when he has 2 3 4 years reaming at 300/10%
and then it says if hes traded , you get 150/5% |

Otherwise traded or not if they have more than 1 year left they get 300/10%. Quote:
It specifically states the circumstances where the 150/5% is applicable and that is 1 yr AND acquired via trade.... NO OTHER scenario is outline for that. |
Re: Pencil in this deal with Shep
I guess IMO, I don't see where the 'and' is in the traded and 1 yr left. I think this statement is referring to players with 1 yr left. The only way players with one year left on the contract can be reneg'd is through a trade.
I read this as: players with 2-4 yr left can be reneg'd by the current team at 300/10%....players with 1 yr left cannot be reneg'd by the current team...players with 1 yr left can be traded and reneg'd by the new team at 150/5%. I just don't see anywhere that refers to players that are traded with 2+ yrs remaining. I just don't see it defined either way on this issue in the rule. |
Re: Pencil in this deal with Shep
Actually it says less than one year, so it means zero years
techinically speaking |

It specifically states WHEN the 150/5% is applied... only with 1 year deal and acquired via trade. Just like how you understood it. It does not state what happens when a player 2+ is traded... but it DOES STATE a general rule of 300/10% when you hold the right to the player. So when you trade for a player with 2+ years... you hold his rights and can wait until the off-season to reneg but for 300/10%. No where does it say a multi-year player get 150/5%. Ask Mike or Brian... pretty sure they can back me up on this. |
Re: Pencil in this deal with Shep
I agree, the line is there to state that a player with one year left can only be reneg if it traded, otherwise trades are 150/5.
|
Re: Pencil in this deal with Shep
This means we need to go back and look at every trade in the past, as i know i reneg guys in trade who had more than one year on them.

Please show me in the rules. Like I said the rules give a SPECIFIC example of when 150/5 is used. You can't just assume ALL trades get 150/5. |
Re: Pencil in this deal with Shep
OK, well maybe I should have waited to take my meds...I guess I am not finding exceptions to the reneg with more than one year when player was traded...maybe I was just thinking we had always done it that way? Who is on the rules committee anyways? Too damn many rule interpretations/reinterpretions recently..my head is swimming....

Re: Pencil in this deal with Shep
it doesnt say all palyers anywhere, it states the situation, once traded you can renegotiate for 150/5, if your goign by the letter of the rule, it says with less than one year, not one year, so ineffect if we go by what you are argueing, then a player has to have no years left on his contract.

Doesnt make a diference to me, actually this would save me cap space, so i could give a rip which way this went.
And the way its written, no one can argue this is in stone this way or that, just the words "A player with less than one year remaining on his contract " How exactly do you get to have less than one year on your contract, at zero. |
Re: Pencil in this deal with Shep
once we roll into a new season, anyone with less than one year is cut, you would have to trade him before the season rolls, end of march is when season rolls, and when contracts years are subtracted.

150/5 does not show up anywhere else or with any provisions regarding traded players with multiple year deals. |
Re: Pencil in this deal with Shep
yeah, but you would neve rhave less than one year remainign in any trade, 1 or more.
as you cant retain a player with zero years, he becomes a free agent |
Re: Pencil in this deal with Shep
I am going to post a new post to get everyones opinion on this....quite frankly Frank (heh), when I was reading this rule, my thought was this 150/5% did only apply to traded players with 1 year or less left on contract...I just thought we had always allowed reneg at 150 for all traded players...
|
Re: Pencil in this deal with Shep
Also the rule needs to be rewritten, to say with one year then, as no way i see in the current rules you can have a player with less than one year on your roster.
|
Re: Pencil in this deal with Shep
Year starts April 1, so every players showing on your roster with 1 year on April 1st 12:01AM have less than 1 year left....these are the eligible players referred to.....
